Moving Towards Having an Intimate Wedding?

For thirteen years I’ve been capturing beautiful beginnings - wedding days of every size and shape. A few times each year in the past I have captured some little intimate gatherings. Some have been a quiet small gathering in the backyard of a couple’s new home, an elopement in a private dining room at Aventura, and quite a few intimate weddings at Cornman Farms.

I never thought they would become more of the norm - (heck, the necessity) - of a wedding season but here we are mid-Pandemic and discussing how to move forward and get married with a safe amount of people. So let me tell you - while I have always loved my 13 years of a myriad of different weddings there is something to be said of the feeling and intentionality of a micro or intimate wedding.

When we whittle down what’s truly truly needed to get married we all know what remains. YOU + ME + AN OFFICIANT + A COUPLE WITNESSES. When we really look and say “What do I need to get married today (or this summer or this fall)?” the list is quite short. And the intimate weddings I’ve photographed have demonstrated the power acknowledging that can possess.

My husband and I had a large wedding - over 350 people so I mourn with you all that have large families, big plans, and are longing to celebrate with an all encompassing group of loved ones - and many of our brides and grooms are rescheduling their big days for next year. I’m with you! I cannot wait to capture that! Some of my clients are having an intimate ceremony this year and postponing the large celebration for next year - imagine how awesome that will feel to finally gather? I’m with you too!

But if you’re feeling moved to go ahead and tie the knot this year and are looking for the good, some inspiration I wanted to share this micro wedding with you. Forty-five people gathered at Cornman Farms on a Thursday afternoon to celebrate this beautiful couple. With such a small group you can feel the love and cheer and it was inspirational. I hope it gives you a glimmer of hope today if you’re moving to a smaller than expected wedding.

Much love,

Melanie
