Celebrating a Bar Mitzvah during Covid

I was just sharing with my friend that part of me has blocked out the last two years of work - it was intense for all of us - and the stress as an event photographer was all encompassing. However, this week I sat down to create the Bar Mitzvah album for Jonah and it really moved me.

The family worked with what was reasonable and safe and created a different but incredibly heartfelt celebration of the special time in Jonah’s life. (peek the gorgeous hand drawn signs!) The changes meant only two good buddies came to celebrate - literally a handful of friends combined with family made up the whole celebration.

You know what else it meant? Services were held outdoors under a tent which meant I was able to capture and witness a special prayer read for the bar mitzvah. It gave me goosebumps to be there. I just love capturing these monumental moments for families. Thank you for having me, they’ll always be written on my heart!
