An Intimate Ann Arbor Wedding
Jame + Labiba. I have so much I could say. This wedding was such a feel good wedding - two lovely people that met at University of Michigan school of engineering - who were ready to create the next chapter of their book: marriage. Being with them it's apparent that their partnership is sincere and goes to the depths but also light hearted. They have such fun banter - laughing and teasing easily - it's infectious.
We started capturing this wedding at Sheraton of Ann Arbor where we had the "First Look" (bride and groom seeing each other for the first time the day of the wedding). I loved the spot we found for this - private and beautiful and their anticipation and emotion was palpable. From there we rolled right into Family Formals and then exited with Bride and Groom to capture a few more photos (on a frigid winter day) at Matthaei Botanical Gardens. I LOVED photographing in that space - the greenery against her colorful sari was so beautiful. An hour later we all remet at Aventura on Washington Street in Ann Arbor.
Aventura of Ann Arbor (my favorite restaurant!) was the ideal spot for this intimate wedding (Bride + Groom, Officiant (family friend), 2 siblings and 3 parents). The Princess Room is small, yes, but so wonderfully decorated and set up for this. The gorgeous teal walls, the mirrors, tea light candles and the lovely floral arrangements (by University Flower Shop in Nichol's Arcade) were a gorgeous backdrop. You'll see below the wonderful Ring Warming ceremony where each person got to pass on a blessing while holding and carrying their wedding rings.
On a whim I set up my camera with tripod to video the vows and I am so very glad I did. First, because both Deana and I were having a hard time keeping composure through our happy tears but also because their vows were so meaningful, so lovely. It truly was a moment in time that I'm happy they have to remember on video.
Enough words - on to the photos which I'm proud to share with you all. It's an honor to capture such a small and heartfelt event, it makes me feel even more connected to their story.
Best wishes to the happy newlyweds!
Love, Melanie
