Best of 2014 Engagement Images

There's no better way to get to know my wedding clients than to spend a few hours together - and bring along my camera to capture them as a couple.

Let me be the first to tell you, 99% of couples are nervous/anxious about being photographed. It's not just YOU (or your other half!). Even in this camera crazed age of selfies and ever ready cameras - there's something very different about having a third unrelated party photographing two people and their intimate connection as a couple. (Note: if we need to start with a glass of wine or at a pub, I'm totally game!)

That is Precisely why I absolutely encourage and beg couples to have an engagement session. It's a chance to become comfortable in front of the camera.

And despite most people's negative views of how well they photograph, people are absolutely natural and beautiful when with their other half. I Love Capturing Love.

Getting ready for your shoot: Some wedding collections include a Complimentary session with StyleLink by Lauren. Lauren is Fabulous. She meets with couples to help you determine your wardrobe choices for you shoot (she will shop with you or meet you at your home and choose from your own closet). I promise you'll leave your visit with Lauren feeling confident, ready, and looking awesome. Lauren always has great suggestions for anyone to look and feel their best!

Getting you Comfortable in Front of the Camera: First, we decide on where to have the session - either a place that means something to the both of you, or we pick a beautiful place (I'm happy to offer suggestions). Once in a beautiful setting I tell you to walk away and interact, be a couple, pretend you're on a date. In shooting from a long distance away from the couple I give you space to have time by yourselves and make you less nervous. I love shooting with the Furthest Focal Length Lenses I own (Canon 135mmL 2.0 or Canon 200mmL 2.8). As you interact, sometimes I'll offer gentle suggestions to continue photographing you as a couple in different spots. The good news? Everyone has left their engagement session saying things like, "That was way  more fun than I expected" or "I'm pleasantly surprised that was fun and comfortable!"

Today, I am sharing some of my very favorite engagement images from 2014.

I want to hear from you, which ones are your favorites? Please use the comment session and vote for your top 3. The top three winners will receive a $100 gift certificate to spend on their galleries (yes all top 3!)! Please only one vote per person. Also, the three winners must be different couples. If the top three include two photos of the same couple the third place gift will go to the next (4th) couple. Thank you. Voting will be open from Friday April 10, 2015 from 11:55 AM (now) to Monday evening April 13, 2015 at Midnight. Votes MUST be in the Comment section on my BLOG only (no voting on FB or IG). Feel free to share this post with friends and family! (Images are in chronological order, there are a total of 40, so Keep Scrolling before you decide!)
