I'm super excited to announce a new series on my blog that I hope you'll love: HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is telling a story, in a beautiful moment in time I get to dive into the lives of a group of people. It's magical and wonderful and inspiring. But, we all know that the day of I DO isn't the end game. Marriage - the wonderful, mysterious, awesome and challenging prospect of devoting one person to another for a lifetime is full of surprises and a good share of tears and laughter.
Today, I'm featuring Dave and Mary. Dave married his sweetheart in June of 2009. It was a gorgeous day that they began at Christ the King Catholic Church in Ann Arbor and ended in Dexter. We returned last week to the place where we did some of their wedding photographs (at Gordon Hall in Dexter) and were able to capture their beautiful growing family. I've asked Dave and Mary to answer a few questions about life and love. ENJOY!
1. What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
At the end of the ceremony, hearing us announced for the first time and everyone cheering as we walked back down the aisle together.
2. What changes have you gone through since being married?
Two kids and one on the way
Mary - finishing an associates degree and Personal Training certificate
Lost two close family members
3. Give me three words to describe your spouse.
Mary (describing Dave): Faithful, Logical, Athletic
Dave (describing Mary): Beautiful, Trustworthy, Generous
4. What is the best part about being married.
Not having to say goodbye and part ways at the end of an evening together.
Knowledge that we've both made the commitment to always stay together through good times and bad.
5. Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?
7 kids, bigger house, bigger cars, busier schedules and half insane.
6. What advice would you give to an engaged couple?
-Take your engagement period to seriously prepare for your marriage; identify and discuss difficult areas ahead of time and make sure you're on the same page.
-Start to view your lives as one rather than "my life" and "your life" lived side by side.
-Don't expect anything about your fiancée to change once you've gotten married.
7. Any ideas on a fun date?
Hot Tub Gardens
Rolling Hills Water Park
